On Heart Fire - The Pause.
Dear Heart Fire Fans...
Hello,
How are you today?
Heart Fire has been a journey and I have been glad to have you take it with me.
The second instalment in the Heart Series, it holds a special place in my heart for many reasons.
The first being that when I wrote Heart Strings, I did not have a series in mind.
I wrote Heart Strings as a short story in a love story collection I did with my girls, Adeboro Rotimi, Oreva Olujimi, Jaja Praiseworth and Tobi Fabanwo.
When I picked up my Substack pen again in 2025, I shared that story although at that point it was probably 2 years old.
The response was shocking.
I knew I was a good writer, but I had improved drastically. So Heart Strings was not a full reflection on the kind of story I wanted to be telling.
Based on the responses, I decided to write Heart Fire.
I chose Solape before Miriam because of reasons you will find out in Miriam’s story and character reveal.
I chose PK as her love interest because on an episode, someone who is a pastor said in Heart Strings comments section that we should put a muzzle on Solape… and I was like hmmmm, wouldn’t that be an awesome love story; a calm pastor and his fire ball… the original live wire?
And so Heart Fire was birthed…
As we approach the final arc, I want us to talk about lessons from the story…
Here are my objectives:
1. To show that personality is not a hinderance to calling.
2. Good and Realistic PR for Pastors. Now many ladies will open their hearts to the PKs of this world. (Female Pastors PR next)
3. To talk about Christian dating and the tension between desire and purity in a relaxed and open environment.
So What have you learnt?
What are your questions?
Ask and I will be in the comments answering…
P.S: Your response here may influence my heart to give you:
1. 2 Chapters per week until we get to the end.
2. Share my plans for the Heart Series after we are done here on Substack.
3. Share deleted scenes of the story with you (For only paid subscribers, sarry🤪)
I look forward to reading from you.😁
From the Chief Cook of the Heart series,

Heart fire has taught me a lot of things.
One of it is that we are not all perfect as humans. Solape is not the “ideal” pastor wife material as the world may try to put it.
But God made us for several purposes and her nature just suits PK’s.
I also learned that in a relationship, there should be boundaries. You are not the Holy Ghost so you will surely be tempted.
It’s best to put measures in place that’ll help you and your partner stay pure— in heart and mind.
I love reading Heart Fire. I've learnt the importance of boundaries (setting and enforcing them) while dating as a Christian. I have also seen that meeting the parents doesn't have to be so fraught with anxiety, and that people that want to like you will like you.
Still staying away from pastors sha 🤭🤭
