Welcome to the Writer’s Room.

This is a space for people who write, and for people who love understanding how writing works. Here, I break down the craft without overcomplicating it and share what’s happening behind the scenes of my own work.

In this section, we’ll talk about:

• how I build believable characters

• how I layer faith into fiction without preaching

• structure, POV, dialogue, and tension

• writing as both art and discipline

Think of this as pulling up a chair while the work is being made, honest, practical, and grounded in process.

Pay close attention,

In my last two emails, I shared with you one of the biggest secrets to my writing.

This mail will wrap it up in one nice little package.

Descriptive writing makes use of a combination of two keys:

1. Physical Details

2. Sensory Perception

Now I am sure you already know how to describe using physical details.

If you were going to describe a man;

He is 6ft tall.

He has dark skin

He has dark eyes

Now in common speech, this kind of description is acceptable.

But the only time a writer is permitted to describe like this is if you are writing an essay for English class in primary school.
